As a high school college advisor, I support students through the post-secondary planning journey, offering tailored advice on selecting colleges, application tactics, essay development, and financial aid. I help students create a balanced list of institutions, stay on schedule with key deadlines, prepare for interviews, and explore careers or vocational programs that match their goals.
Some of my main duties include:
- College Planning & Selection: Helping students find colleges that match their academic, social, and financial needs.
- Application Support: Assisting students throughout the application process, including brainstorming essays, reviewing resumes, and coordinating submission of recommendation letters.
- Financial Aid & Scholarships: Helping families complete the FAFSA and locate scholarships and grants to make higher education affordable.
- Academic Advising: Making sure students choose appropriate high school courses and AP classes to satisfy college entrance requirements.
- Test Preparation: Advising students on SAT/ACT scheduling and timelines.
- Career Planning: Supporting students in career exploration, vocational program options, internships, and apprenticeships for after graduation.
